Gone girls
The granites of grief have left me today,
retreated,
allowing some respite from the smoky shadows they cast.
Marauding giants
they still stand there in the distance though,
waiting for me to figure out how to banish them for good.
Until then,
I raise my face towards the sun
glad to be at peace for a day,
maybe longer.
The sun sags my skin,
but I have tricks up my sleeve,
newfound flint
to ignite a return of my inner flame.
Soon, those giants will leave for good.
